Who we are

Based in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales market town of Richmond, North Country Theatre specialises in taking professional theatre out into the country, touring to village halls, small theatres, arts centres, churches, auction marts, castles, railway waiting rooms, hotels, gardens, almost anywhere in fact. The company is funded by Arts Council England.

We tour from Hereford and Shropshire to the Scottish Borders and Highlands though most of our work remains in our native North Yorkshire region.

North Country Theatre was set up in 1996 by Nobby Dimon with the aid of a £1000 project grant from what was then Yorkshire Arts.

Board
We are managed by a board of local people with a range of experience and skills from business to Local Government to TV scriptwriting to midwifery. Current chair is Dance teacher and businesswoman Faye Doorbar.

As well as our full time Artistic Director Nobby Dimon and part time Office manager Jaqui Wood a large number of people work regularly for us on a project to project basis to create our touring theatre, educational and site specific projects.
